Today’s brand BOTAS 66 has been making leather shoes since 2009 but its roots stretch all the way back to 1949 with a company called Botana, a men’s walking shoe manufacturer. Botana went on to become one of the world’s leading sport shoemakers. By 1963 they’d conquered the market for every type of sports shoe under the name Botas (meaning “shoes”). Botas’ popularity became so widespread that the name “botasky” became synonymous with all sporting shoes.
Brand BOTAS 66 was established in 2010, modeling their pilot shoe-line after the original 1966 Botas Classic shoe.
Botas began work on their new project to re-introduce its original color combinations and modern styles to the revolutionized BOTAS 66 collection. A year later they won the Manufacturer of the Year 2010 in Czech Grand Design award.
Today’s BOTAS 66 collection includes more than a hundred color patterns in small series. Co-founders and innovative designers, Jan Kloss and Jakub Korous, opened their first store in 2014, and in 2015 opened their second shop on Žižkov. BOTAS 66 stores are beautiful interior spaces designed by studio deFORM.
